9/15/22 Week 5: Adios Masks, Hola Restroom!

 Hola Everybody!

Wow, time flies when you're in the Lord's work! It is crazy to think that two weeks ago I had just gotten to Mexico and felt like I had no idea what was going on and struggled to learn Spanish. Now, at least I know what's going on but still struggle to learn Spanish. I will say that I have learned so much since beginning CCM. My companion and I taught a lesson to our teacher who pretended to be an investigator. We had some hiccups but it went great overall! It is cool to see how our ability to plan lessons based on the spirit and the needs of the individual.
Something amazing happened last week! The government has required the use of masks while indoors for over a year due to covid. Last week on Tuesday there was an unplanned devocional for all missionaries. We all knew something was up when the CCM president said that there wasn't going to be an opening prayer because he knew that there would probably a lot of applause that would drive the spirit away. When he announced that we no longer needed to wear masks, there was a standing ovation.
During the first week here in Mexico, almost all of the missionaries here got sick from the food. Somehow I dodged that bullet. However, Monday morning it hit me. For two days I felt absolutely terrible. Luckily after a trip to the doctor's office I got some medication and began feel better soon after.
This last Tuesday 350 more missionaries got here! It is pretty crazy because that is almost triple the size of my group. It's kind of funny to see the wide-eyed missionaries walking around because I was makes me feel older and cooler.
There are a lot of missionaries from Utah here and so many people from my district who have several friends that they see all the time. Coming from Washington I don't know as many people on missions especially in the Mexico MTC. It almost makes being here feel more foreign. Yesterday, I was playing basketball and across the gym I saw Elder Ethan Hurley who I know from school/church. It was so fun to see him! It was great to see a familiar face but also I was hopefully able to ease the stress and homesickness of another Elder.
Love you guys!
